HandyPro™ Neuroendoscope
HandyPro™ Neuroendoscope
The OI HandyPro™ neuroendoscope was developed as a lightweight and convenient instrument for neuroendoscopic procedures. The special design of the HandyPro ™ combines the most important features: excellent image quality with a small diameter and easy handling. The handle of the neuroendoscope provides better control during surgery and thus facilitates the handling of various instruments. This is perhaps the most valuable feature of the system: free, hands-free maintenance of the neuroendoscope.
Features:
- Hopkins II optics with rod lens system, diameter 2 mm, viewing direction 0° or 12°
- Oval outer sheath with a working length of 15 cm and an outer diameter of 2.6 x 4 mm
- The proximal end of the outer sheath has three working channels for rinsing/suction and working instruments
- Semi-rigid working instruments with a diameter of 1.3 mm, such as grasping forceps, scissors, monopolar and bipolar coagulation electrodes
- Safe handling of the neuroendoscope thanks to the handle that the surgeon holds in his non-dominant hand
- Constant system configurations prevent the surgeon from losing orientation during surgery (Fig. 1)
Neuroendoscopy is used in many ways, mainly in the field of endoscopic ventriculostomy of the 3rd ventricle (ETV). Due to technological advances and increasing miniaturization, there are more and more fields of application for neuroendoscopy.
HandyPro™ has already proven its reliability in various areas:
- Brain tumor biopsy (Fig. 2)
- Biopsy of a brain tumor through a small ventricle and a medium-sized Monroe hole (Fig. 3)
- Endoscopic ventriculostomy of the 3rd ventricle of the brain (Fig. 4)
- Fenestration of arachnoid cysts of the brain (Fig. 5)
- Fenestration of cystic lesions and insertion of the Ommaya reservoir (Fig. 6)
The free, hands-free operation possible with the OI HandyPro ™ provides the neurosurgeon with greater mobility during the procedure and thus allows multiple surgical incisions to be made through a single drilled hole.
In conclusion, it can be said that OI HandyPro ™ combines the advantages of some older neuroscope models, making free operation and many tasks affordable and safe. This system is not limited in its application to only one specific method but promises a new, progressive use of the neuroendoscope for various diseases and surgical methods.
