Are Jardiance and Trulicity the Same Thing?

Jardiance (empagliflozin) and Trulicity (dulaglutide) are anti-diabetes medicines used as adjunctd to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Jardiance is also indicated to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease.

Side effects of Jardiance and Trulicity that are similar include weakness/lack of energy, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), or nausea.

Side effects of Jardiance that are different from Trulicity include dehydration, dizziness, lightheadedness, yeast infection, upper respiratory tract infection, high cholesterol, joint pain, increased urination, urinary tract infection (UTI), thirst, and low blood pressure (hypotension).

Side effects of Trulicity that are different from Jardiance include diarrhea, frequent bowel movements, vomiting, abdominal pain or discomfort, decreased appetite, indigestion, fatigue, constipation, gas, bloating, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), feeling unwell (malaise), or belching.

Jardiance may interact with diuretics and insulin or insulin secretagogues.

Trulicity may interact with other oral medications taken at the same time.

Common side effects of Jardiance include:

Trulicity (dulaglutide) is a human GLP-1 receptor agonist used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

 

What Drugs Interact With Jardiance?

Jardiance may interact with diuretics, insulin or insulin secretagogues. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. During pregnancy, Jardiance should be taken only if prescribed. It is unknown if this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Trulicity may interact with other oral medications. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. During pregnancy, Trulicity should be taken only if prescribed; it is unknown if it would affect a fetus. It is unknown if Trulicity passes into breast milk. How Should Jardiance Be Taken?

The recommended dose of Jardiance is 10 mg once daily in the morning, taken with or without food.

How Should Trulicity Be Taken?

The recommended initiating dose of Trulicity is 0.75 mg once weekly. The maximum recommended dose is 1.5 mg once weekly.
