Are Myrbetriq and Sanctura the Same Thing?
Myrbetriq (mirabegron) and Sanctura (trospium chloride) are used to treat overactive bladder (OAB) with symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and urinary frequency.
Myrbetriq and Sanctura belong to different drug classes. Myrbetriq is a beta-3 adrenergic agonist and Sanctura is a muscarinic antagonist.
Side effects of Myrbetriq and Sanctura that are similar include dry mouth, constipation, headache, dizziness, or blurred vision.
Side effects of Myrbetriq that are different from Sanctura include increased blood pressure, inability to fully empty the bladder (urinary retention), sinus pain, sore throat, diarrhea, bloating, memory issues, joint pain, tired feeling, stomach pain, or nausea.
Side effects of Sanctura that are different from Myrbetriq include dry throat, stomach upset, gas, dry eyes, or drowsiness.

Sanctura (trospium chloride) is a muscarinic antagonist, which relieves spasms of the bladder, used to treat overactive bladder and symptoms of urinary incontinence, frequency, and urgency.
What Drugs Interact With Myrbetriq?
Myrbetriq may interact with metoprolol, desipramine, or digoxin.
What Drugs Interact With Sanctura?
Sanctura may interact with atropine, dicyclomine, glycopyrrolate, hyoscyamine, mepenzolate, metformin, methscopolamine, morphine, procainamide, propantheline, scopolamine, tenofovir, or vancomycin. Tell your doctor all medications you use. During pregnancy, Sanctura should be used only when prescribed. It is unknown if this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
How Should Myrbetriq Be Taken?
Myrbetriq is available as a 10 mg tablet and a solution (30 mg per ml) for intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) administration. Myrbetriq solution is administered as a single 15- to 60-mg dose once every 6 hours not to exceed 60 or 120 mg a day. The recommended oral dose is one to two Myrbetriq tablets initially followed by one tablet every 4-6 hours, not to exceed 40 mg daily. Myrbetriq should not be used for more than 5 days.
How Should Sanctura Be Taken?
The recommended dose of Sanctura is 20 mg twice daily, taken at least one hour before meals or on an empty stomach.
