Adult dosage forms and strengths

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, bowel obstruction, high fever (r/o infectious diarrhea), dysentery, blood in stool, bleeding ulcers, gout, hemophilia, hemorrhagic states

 

Cautions

In the US, Kaopectate has been reformulated to bismuth subsalicylate

Avoid use in children <3 years

Do not use for >2 days

Take 2-3 hr before/after other drugs
