Indicated to prevent infection and temporarily relieve pain in minor cuts, scrapes, and burns
After cleaning affected area, apply small amount topically 1-3 times/day; cover with sterile bandage

Discontinue if swelling, rash, or fever develops
Discontinue if irritation, pain, or redness persist or worsens, or if symptoms do not improve in 7 days
Do not use for >7 days unless directed by physician

Mechanism of action
Bacitracin: Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, by preventing the incorporation of amino acids and nucleotides into the cell walL
Lidocaine: Topical anesthetics that reversibly block nerve conduction near their site of administration, thereby producing temporary loss of sensation in a limited area
Absorption
Bacitracin: Not substantially absorbed from intact or denuded skin, wounds, or mucous membranes
Lidocaine: Skin and mucosal absorption is highly variable; most anesthetic agents exist as solids and are only superficially absorbed through intact skin
