Xerosis: Abnormal dryness of the skin (xeroderma), the conjunctiva of the eye (xerophthalmia), or the mucous membranes, such as dry mouth (xerostomia).

The word "xerosis" literally means "dry condition." It was derived from the Greek roots "xero-" (dry) and "-osis" (condition).
