Are Nubeqa and Xofigo the Same Thing?

Nubeqa (darolutamide) and Xofigo (radium Ra 223 dichloride) are indicated for the treatment of patients with non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.

Xofigo is used in patients with non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer and symptomatic bone metastases and no known visceral metastatic disease.

Nubeqa and Xofigo belong to different drug classes. Nubeqa is an androgen receptor inhibitor and Xofigo is a radiotherapeutic drug.

Side effects of Nubeqa that are different from Xofigo include fatigue, pain in extremities, and rash.

Side effects of Xofigo that are different from Nubeqa include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, swelling of the legs and feet, and low red and white blood cell counts as well as low platelets.

Nubeqa may interact with rifampicin, itraconazole, midazolam, and rosuvastatin.

Xofigo may interact with other drugs.

How Should Nubeqa be Taken?

The dose of Nubeqa is 600 mg, (two 300 mg tablets) administered orally twice daily with food. Patients should also receive a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analog concurrently or should have had bilateral orchiectomy.

How Should Xofigo be Taken?

The dose regimen of Xofigo is 50 kBq (1.35 microcurie) per kg body weight, given at 4 week intervals for 6 injections.
