Azmacort (triamcinolone acetonide) Inhalation Aerosol and Flovent (fluticasone propionate) are corticosteroids used to prevent asthma attacks.
Side effects of Azmacort and Flovent that are similar include white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips or tongue, runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, cough, and hoarseness or deepened voice.
Side effects of Azmacort that are different from Flovent include nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, joint or muscle pain, dryness in your mouth/nose/throat, and sinus pain.
Side effects of Flovent that are different from Azmacort include signs of infection (fever, chills, persistent sore throat), vision problems, increased thirst or urination, easy bruising or bleeding, mental/mood changes (such as depression, mood swings, agitation), bone pain, wheezing, and headache.
Azmacort may interact with other drugs.
Flovent may interact with conivaptan, diclofenac, imatinib, isoniazid, antibiotics, antifungal medications, antidepressants, heart or blood pressure medications, and HIV/AIDS medicines.

- muscle weakness
- pain or burning when you urinate
- changes in the shape or location of body fat (especially in your arms, legs, face, neck, breasts, and waist)
- worsening asthma symptoms
What Are Possible Side Effects of Flovent?
Common side effects of Flovent include:
- hoarseness,
- sore throat,
- white patches in your mouth/on your tongue,
- signs of infection (fever, chills, cough, persistent sore throat),
- vision problems,
- increased thirst or urination,
- easy bruising or bleeding,
- mental/mood changes (such as depression, mood swings, agitation),
- bone pain,
- wheezing,
- runny or stuffy nose, or
- headache.
Infrequently, Flovent may cause sudden severe wheezing or trouble breathing immediately after you use it. If this occurs, use your quick-relief inhaler and get medical help right away.

Flovent (fluticasone propionate) is a steroid used to prevent asthma attacks. It will not treat an asthma attack that has already begun.
What Drugs Interact With Azmacort?
Other drugs may interact with Azmacort. Tell your doctor all medications you are taking. Contact your doctor if your asthma medication is not working as well as usual as this may be an early sign of a serious asthma attack. Do not stop taking Azmacort unless directed to do so by your doctor. Talk to your doctor you are pregnant and taking Azmacort as you should only use Azmacort if the potential benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
What Drugs Interact With Flovent?
Flovent may interact with antifungal medicines or HIV/AIDS medicines.
Flovent may also interact with conivaptan, diclofenac, imatinib, isoniazid, antibiotics, antidepressants, and heart or blood pressure medications.
How Should Azmacort be Taken?
The recommended dosage of Azmacort is two inhalations (150 mcg) given three to four times per day or four inhalations (300 mcg) given twice daily.
How Should Flovent be Taken?
Flovent should be orally inhaled only in patients aged 12 years and older. The recommended starting dose ranges from 88-880 mcg twice daily. The maximum recommended dose is 880 mcg twice daily.
