Atrovent HFA (ipratropium bromide HFA) and DuoNeb (ipratropium bromide and albuterol sulfate) are bronchodilators used to treat and prevent symptoms (wheezing and shortness of breath) caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including bronchitis and emphysema.

Common side effects of Atrovent include:

• headache
• dry mouth
• hoarseness
• cough
• stuffy nose
• sinus pain
• nausea
• upset stomach
• constipation
• back pain
• fever
• chills
• body aches
• flu symptoms
• blurred vision, and
• dizziness

Tell your doctor if you experience serious side effects of Atrovent HFA including bronchospasm (wheezing, chest tightness, trouble breathing), eye pain, seeing halos around lights, pain or burning when you urinate, urinating less than usual or not at all, or worsening of your symptoms.

Common side effects of DuoNeb include:

• headache,
• dizziness,
• nausea,
• dry mouth,
• shaking (tremors),
• nervousness,
• constipation, or
• cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, cough, or sore throat.

Tell your doctor if you have serious side effects of DuoNeb including:

• difficult or painful urination, or
• muscle cramps.

Atrovent HFA is an anticholinergic indicated for the maintenance treatment of bronchospasm associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema

DuoNeb (ipratropium bromide and albuterol sulfate) is a combination of bronchodilators used to treat and prevent symptoms (wheezing and shortness of breath) caused by ongoing lung disease (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease-COPD which includes bronchitis and emphysema).

Atrovent may interact with many drugs.

DuoNeb may interact with certain beta-blockers, such as propranolol. Drug interactions may change how your medications work or increase your risk for serious side effects. Tell your doctor all the products you use, including prescription/nonprescription drugs and herbal products.

Two inhalations four times a day, not to exceed 12 inhalations in 24 hours.

The recommended dose of DuoNeb is one 3 mL vial administered 4 times per day via nebulization with up to 2 additional 3 mL doses allowed per day, if needed.
