Daurismo vs. Oncaspar

Are Daurismo and Oncaspar the Same Thing?

Daurismo (glasdegib) and Oncaspar (pegaspargase) is a cancer (antineoplastic) medications used to treat different types of leukemia.

Daurismo is indicated, in combination with low-dose cytarabine, for the treatment of newly-diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in adult patients who are 75 years old or older or who have comorbidities that preclude use of intensive induction chemotherapy.

Oncaspar is used to treat acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Daurismo and Oncaspar are different types of cancer (antineoplastic) medications. Daurismo is a hedgehog pathway inhibitor and Oncaspar is a tetrameric enzyme.

Side effects of Daurismo and Oncaspar that are similar include fatigue/tiredness, nausea, fluid retention/swelling, decreased appetite, skin rash, diarrhea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, abdominal pain/stomach cramps, and weight loss.

Side effects of Daurismo that are different from Oncaspar include anemia, bleeding, febrile neutropenia, musculoskeletal pain, low blood platelets (thrombocytopenia), shortness of breath, changes in taste, inflammation and ulcers of mucus membranes, constipation, fever, chest pain, muscle spasm, cough, pneumonia, low blood sodium (hyponatremia), decreased white blood cell count, irregular heart rate, and kidney problems.

Side effects of Oncaspar that are different from Daurismo include weakness, itching, depression, drowsiness, irritability, and injection site reactions (pain swelling or redness).

Daurismo may interact with strong CYP3A inhibitors or inducers, QTc prolonging drugs, other medicines for infections, asthma medications, medicines to treat heart problems, medications for high blood pressure, antidepressants, drugs to treat mental illness, anti-cancer drugs, anti-malaria medications, and HIV medicines.

Oncaspar may interact with vincristine, prednisone, or methotrexate.
