Vemlidy (tenofovir alafenamide) and Hepsera (adefovir dipivoxil) are antiviral medications used to treat chronic hepatitis B virus infection.

Vemlidy is used to treat chronic hepatitis B virus infection in adults with compensated liver disease.

Side effects of Vemlidy and Hepsera that are similar include headache, stomach/abdominal pain, cough, and nausea.

Side effects of Vemlidy that are different from Hepsera include fatigue and back pain.

Side effects of Hepsera that are different from Vemlidy include weakness, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, gas, and skin rash or itching.

Both Vemlidy and Hepsera may interact with antiviral medicines and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Vemlidy may also interact with drugs that induce P-gp activity, aminoglycosides, anticonvulsants, antimycobacterials, and St. John's wort.

Hepsera may also interact with amphotericin B, pentamidine, antibiotics, cancer medicine, medicines used to prevent organ transplant rejection, pain or arthritis medicines, and HIV medicines.

Vemlidy (tenofovir alafenamide) is a hepatitis B virus (HBV) nucleoside analog reverse transcriptase inhibitor and is indicated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus infection in adults with compensated liver disease.

Hepsera (adefovir dipivoxil) is an antiviral medication used to treat chronic hepatitis B in adults.

Vemlidy may interact with drugs that induce P-gp activity, antivirals, aminoglycosides, high-dose or multiple nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs), anticonvulsants, antimycobacterials, and St. John's wort. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant before using Vemlidy. There is a pregnancy exposure registry that monitors pregnancy outcomes in women exposed to during pregnancy. It is unknown if Vemlidy passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Hepsera may interact with amphotericin B, pentamidine, antibiotics, other antiviral medicines, cancer medicine, medicines used to prevent organ transplant rejection, pain or arthritis medicines, or HIV medicines. Tell your doctor all medications you use. Hepsera should be used only when prescribed during pregnancy. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

The recommended dosage of Vemlidy is 25 mg (one tablet) taken orally once daily with food.

The recommended dose of Hepsera in chronic hepatitis B patients 12 years of age and older with adequate renal function is 10 mg, once daily, taken orally.
