Definition of Qi gong

Qi gong: ("chee-GUNG") A component of traditional Chinese medicine that combines movement, meditation, and regulation of breathing to enhance the flow of qi (an ancient term given to what is believed to be vital energy) in the body. Qi gong exercises involve the meridian system used in acupuncture, mind intent and breathing techniques during movement. When these dimensions are added, the benefits of exercise increase. The rhythmic movements of Qigong are reported to reduce stress, build stamina, increase vitality, and enhance the immune system. It has also been found to improve cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic and digestive functions.
