Entex LQ Side Effects Center
Entex LQ (guaifenesin and phenylephrine) is a combination of an expectorant and nasal decongestant used to help loosen phlegm (mucus) and thin bronchial secretions to drain bronchial tubes and make coughs more productive; and for the temporary relief of nasal and sinus congestion due to cold, hay fever or other respiratory allergies. Common side effects of Entex LQ include:
- nausea,
- vomiting,
- upset stomach,
- loss of appetite,
- flushing (warmth, tingling, or redness under the skin),
- feeling excited or restless (especially in children),
- sleep problems (insomnia),
- skin rash or itching,
- headache, and
- dizziness
The dose of Entex LQ for adults and children over 12 years of age is 1 teaspoonful (5mL) every 4 hours. The dose of Entex LQ for children 6 to under 12 years of age is 1/2 teaspoonful (2.5 mL). The dose of Entex LQ for children2 to under 6 years of age is 1/4 teaspoon (1.25mL) every 4 hours. Entex LQ may interact with medicines to treat high blood pressure, beta-blockers, and antidepressants. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant before using Entex LQ. Entex LQ passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. It is unknown if guaifenesin passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
