Verdeso Side Effects Center
Verdeso (desonide) Foam, 0.05% is a topical (for the skin) steroid used to treat the inflammation and itching caused by a number of skin conditions such as allergic reactions, eczema, and psoriasis. Common side effects of Verdeso Foam include stinging, burning, irritation, dryness, itching, peeling, or redness at the application site. Other side effects of Verdeso Foam include:
- acne,
- new/unwanted hair growth,
- "hair bumps" (folliculitis),
- skin thinning or softening,
- discoloration of the skin,
- stretch marks, dryness or scaly skin,
- skin rash or irritation around your mouth,
- blisters,
- pimples, or
- crusting of treated skin.
Apply a thin layer dose of Verdeso Foam should to the affected area(s) twice daily. Verdeso may interact with other drugs. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. During pregnancy, Verdeso Foam should be used only if prescribed. It is unknown if this drug passes into breast milk when applied to the skin. Similar medications pass into breast milk when taken by mouth. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Verdeso Consumer Information
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
- worsening of your skin condition;
- redness, warmth, swelling, oozing, or severe irritation of any treated skin;
- blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain, or seeing halos around lights;
- high blood sugar--increased thirst, increased urination, dry mouth, fruity breath odor; or
- possible signs of absorbing this medicine through your skin--weight gain (especially in your face or your upper back and torso), slow wound healing, thinning or discolored skin, increased body hair, muscle weakness, nausea, diarrhea, tiredness, mood changes, menstrual changes, sexual changes.
Steroid medicine can affect growth in children. Tell your doctor if your child is not growing at a normal rate while using this medicine.
Common side effects may include:
- stinging or burning of treated skin;
- skin irritation, redness, itching, or hardening;
- dry, scaly, or oily skin;
- swelling in your hands or feet;
- acne, stretch marks; or
- redness or crusting around your hair follicles.

Clinical Trial Experience
Because clinical trials are conducted under widely varying conditions, adverse reaction rates observed in the clinical trials of a drug cannot be directly compared to rates in the clinical trials of another drug and may not reflect the rates observed in clinical practice. In a controlled clinical trial of 581 subjects aged 3 months to 17 years, adverse reactions occurred at the application site in 6% of subjects treated with VERDESO Foam and 14% of subjects treated with vehicle foam. Other commonly reported adverse reactions for VERDESO Foam and vehicle foam are noted in Table 1.

Other local adverse events occurred at rates less than 1.0%. The majority of adverse reactions were transient and mild to moderate in severity, and they were not affected by age, race, or gender.
The following additional local adverse reactions have been reported with topical corticosteroids. They may occur more frequently with the use of occlusive dressings and higher potency corticosteroids. These reactions are listed in an approximate decreasing order of occurrence: folliculitis, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, secondary infection, striae, and miliaria.
Post-Marketing Experience
Because these reactions are reported voluntarily from a population of uncertain size, it is not always possible to reliably estimate their frequency or establish a causal relationship to drug exposure.
The following adverse reactions have been identified during post-approval use of VERDESO Foam: application site irritation, application site erythema, application site reactions, skin reactions, and swelling face.
