What Is Duobrii?

Duobrii (halobetasol propionate and tazarotene) Lotion is a combination of a corticosteroid and a retinoid indicated for the topical treatment of plaque psoriasis in adults.

What Are Side Effects of Duobrii?

Common side effects of Duobrii Lotion include:

  • contact dermatitis,
  • application site pain,
  • infected hair follicles,
  • thinning skin,
  • skin abrasions,
  • rash,
  • stretch marks, and
  • skin peeling

Dosage for Duobrii

Apply a thin layer dose of Duobrii Lotion to the affected areas once daily.

What Drugs, Substances, or Supplements Interact with Duobrii?

Duobrii Lotion may interact with corticosteroids taken by mouth or injection, or other products used on your skin that contain corticosteroids. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use.

Duobrii During Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Duobrii Lotion is not recommended for use during pregnancy; it may harm a fetus. A negative result for pregnancy should be obtained within 2 weeks prior to Duobrii Lotion therapy, which should begin during menstruation. Females of reproductive potential are advised to use effective contraception during treatment with Duobrii Lotion. It is unknown if Duobrii passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Call your doctor at once if you have:

  • irritation of treated skin;
  • a sunburn;
  • blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain, or seeing halos around lights;
  • high blood sugar--increased thirst, increased urination, dry mouth, fruity breath odor; or
  • possible signs of absorbing this medicine through your skin--weight gain (especially in your face or your upper back and torso), slow wound healing, thinning or discolored skin, increased body hair, muscle weakness, nausea, diarrhea, tiredness, mood changes, menstrual changes, sexual changes.

Common side effects may include:

  • burning, stinging, redness, itching, pain, or swelling of treated skin;
  • redness or crusting around your hair follicles;
  • rash;
  • peeling skin; or
  • thinning skin.

Clinical Trials Experience

Because clinical trials are conducted under widely varying conditions, adverse reaction rates observed in the clinical trials of a drug cannot be directly compared to rates in the clinical trials of another drug and may not reflect the rates observed in clinical practice.

In randomized, double-blind, multicenter, vehicle-controlled clinical trials, 410 adults with plaque psoriasis were treated with DUOBRII Lotion or vehicle lotion and had post-baseline safety data. Subjects applied DUOBRII Lotion or vehicle lotion once daily for up to eight weeks. Table 1 presents adverse reactions that occurred in at least 1% of subjects treated with DUOBRII Lotion and more frequently than in vehicle-treated subjects.
