Wild yam suggested uses include estrogen replacement therapy, painful menstruation, breast enlargement, diverticulosis, menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea), gallbladder colic, libido enhancement, osteoporosis, postmenopausal vaginal dryness, premenstrual syndrome, and rheumatoid arthritis.
Topical wild yam appears to be no better than a placebo for relieving vasomotor symptoms.
