What Are Dosages of Goldenseal?
Suggested Dosing
Dried Root/Rhizome/Tea
- 0.5-1 g orally three times daily
Liquid Extract
- 0.3-1.0 ml orally three times daily; 1:1, 60% ethanol
Tincture
- 2-4 ml orally three times daily; 1:10, 60% ethanol
Mouthwash, Topical
- Rinse three to four times daily; with 6 g dried herb/150 ml water

This medication contains goldenseal. Do not take berberine, eye balm, eye root, goldenroot, ground raspberry, Hydrastis canadensis, Indian plant, jaundice root, orange root, or yellow root if you are allergic to goldenseal or any ingredients contained in this drug.
Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
Contraindications- Breastfeeding, hyperbilirubinemia, infectious gastrointestinal (GI) conditions, inflammatory GI conditions, newborn/infant, pregnancy

Cautions
- Cardiovascular disorders, concurrent antihypertensives, concurrent CYP 3A4 substrates, concurrent sedative agents, high blood pressure (hypertension)
Pregnancy and Lactation
- Do not use goldenseal in pregnancy. The risks involved outweigh the potential benefits. Safer alternatives exist.
- Goldenseal is unsafe to use while breastfeeding.
