    Cyclocort (amcinonide) is a high potency topical corticosteroid indicated for the relief of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses for a maximum duration of 5 days on the face, axillae, scrotum and scalp and a maximum of 3 weeks on the body. Common side effects of Cyclocort include:

    • itchy skin, and
    • skin burning or pain at the application site.

    Use of Cyclocort for a long period of time, over a large body surface, or use under an airtight dressing, may cause the following rare side effects including:

    • weight gain,
    • moon face/rounding of the face,
    • obesity,
    • skin thinning,
    • stretch marks,
    • skin wrinkling,
    • skin dryness,
    • the appearance of blood vessels under the surface of your skin,
    • skin discoloration,
    • skin infection,
    • increased body hair,
    • hair loss,
    • allergic reaction,
    • irritation,
    • inflammation of hair follicles,
    • worsening of condition,
    • redness,
    • rash or hives,
    • dermatitis (a type of eczema),
    • upper abdominal pain,
    • prickly heat rash, or
    • acne.

    Apply a thin layer dose of Cyclocort to affected area once or twice daily and gently rub in. Allow adequate time for absorption after each application before applying an emollient. Cyclocort may interact with ritonavir and itraconazole, and it may impair the effectiveness of latex products (e.g. condoms, diaphragms). Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant before using Cyclocort; it is unknown if it will harm a fetus. The minimum quantity Cyclocort should be used for the minimum duration in pregnant patients. It is unknown if Cyclocort passes into breast milk. Systemically administered corticosteroids pass into breast milk. Nursing mothers must not apply Cyclocort to the breast area in order to prevent direct contact of the nursing infant with the active ingredient. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

    Cyclocort Consumer Information

    Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

    Call your doctor at once if you have:

    • worsening of your skin condition;
    • redness, warmth, swelling, oozing, or severe irritation of any treated skin;
    • high blood sugar--increased thirst, increased urination, dry mouth, fruity breath odor; or
    • possible signs of absorbing this medicine through your skin--weight gain (especially in your face or your upper back and torso), slow wound healing, thinning or discolored skin, increased body hair, muscle weakness, nausea, diarrhea, headaches, pain behind the eyes, tiredness, mood changes, menstrual changes, sexual changes.

    Steroid medicine can affect growth in children. Tell your doctor if your child is not growing or gaining weight at a normal rate while using amcinonide topical.

    Common side effects may include:

    • burning, itching, irritation, or dryness of treated skin;
    • redness or crusting around your hair follicles;
    • acne, increased hair growth;
    • stretch marks, thinning skin; or
    • white or "pruned" appearance of the skin (caused by covering treated skin with a tight bandage or other covering).

    Hypothalamic-pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis suppression, cushingoid features (e.g. moon face, central obesity), delayed weight gain/growth retardation in children, osteoporosis, hyperglycemia/glucosuria, hypertension, increased weight/obesity, decreased endogenous cortisol levels, steroid withdrawal syndrome

    Eye Disorders

    glaucoma, cataract subcapsular

    Gastrointestinal Disorders

    upper abdominal pain

    Application site irritation/pain.
