What is Claritin?
Claritin is a prescription medicine used to treat the symptoms of hay fever or other upper respiratory allergies. Claritin may be used alone or with other medications.
Claritin is an antihistamine.
It is not known if Claritin is safe and effective in children younger than 2 years of age.
What are the possible side effects of Claritin?
Claritin may cause serious side effects including:
- fast or uneven heart rate,
- severe headache, and
- feeling lightheaded
Get medical help right away, if you have any of the symptoms listed above.
The most common side effects of Claritin include:
- headache,
- feeling tired or drowsy,
- stomach pain,
- vomiting,
- dry mouth, and
- feeling nervous or hyperactive

- itchy, watery eyes
- sneezing
- itching of the nose or throat
