What Is Virazole and how is it used?

Virazole is a prescription medicine used to treat the symptoms of Chronic Hepatitis C and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) in children. Virazole may be used alone or with other medications.

Virazole belongs to a class of drugs called Hepatitis B/Hepatitis C Agents; RSV Agents.

What are the possible side effects of Virazole?

Virazole may cause serious side effects including:

  • hives,
  • difficulty breathing,
  • swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat,
  • fever,
  • cough,
  • shallow breathing,
  • limpness,
  • severe weakness,
  • wheezing,
  • gasping for breath,
  • blue-colored lips,
  • cold and clammy skin,
  • cough with mucus, and
  • other worsening breathing problems

Side effects for care givers of children receiving the medication:

  • chest pain,
  • shortness of breath,
  • runny nose,
  • sore throat,
  • headache,
  • dizziness,
  • nausea,
  • rash,
  • eye redness, and
  • watery eyes
