Quzyttir (cetirizine hydrochloride injection) and Zyrtec (cetirizine hydrochloride) are antihistamines used to treat acute hives (urticaria).

Zyrtec is also used to treat other symptoms from hay fever (allergic rhinitis) and other allergies, such as itching, runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing.

Zyrtec is available over-the-counter (OTC) and in generic form.

Side effects of Quzyttir and Zyrtec that are similar include headache, drowsiness, fatigue, dry mouth, sore throat, and dizziness.

Side effects of Quzyttir that are different from Zyrtec include changes in taste, numbness and tingling, lightheadedness, indigestion, feeling hot, and increased sweating.

Side effects of Zyrtec that are different from Quzyttir include tired feeling, cough, nausea, constipation, stomach pain, and vomiting.

Quzyttir may interact with theophylline.

Zyrtec may interact with other medicines that make you sleepy (such as other cold or allergy medicines, narcotic pain medicines, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, and medicines for seizures, depression, or anxiety).

The side effect of sleepiness may occur when taking Zyrtec, so do not drive a car or operate potentially dangerous machinery.

Quzytiir (cetirizine hydrochloride injection) is a histamine-1 (H1) receptor antagonist used to treat acute hives (urticaria) in adults and children 6 months of age and older.

Zyrtec is medication that temporarily relieves these symptoms due to hay fever or other upper respiratory allergies.

Quzytiir may interact with other drugs. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant before using Quzytiir; it is unknown how it would affect a fetus. Quzytiir passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Zyrtec may interact with alcohol, other medicines that make you sleepy (such as other cold or allergy medicine, narcotic pain medicine, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, and medicine for seizures, depression, or anxiety).

The recommended dose of Quzytiir for adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older is 10 mg. The recommended dose of Quzytiir for children 6 to 11 years is 5 mg or 10 mg. The recommended dose of Quzytiir for children 6 months to 5 years is 2.5 mg.

Adults and children 6 years and over should take one 10 mg capsule once daily; do not take more than one 10 mg capsule in 24 hours. A 5 mg product may be appropriate for less severe symptoms.

Adults 65 years of age or older, children under 6 years of age, and consumers with liver or kidney disease should consult a doctor before using this product.
