Common side effects of Omnicef include:

Tell your doctor if you experience serious side effects of Omnicef including watery or bloody diarrhea, chest pain, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, unusual bleeding, seizures (convulsions), pale or yellowed skin, dark colored urine, fever, confusion or weakness, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash; increased thirst, loss of appetite, swelling, weight gain, feeling short of breath, or urinating less than usual or not at all.

  • dizziness
  • headache
  • drowsiness
  • itching/swelling
  • rash
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • abdominal pain
  • stomach upset
  • gas
  • headache
  • itching or rash
  • hives
  • cough
  • stuffy nose
  • stiff or tight muscles
  • muscle pain
  • joint pain or swelling
  • restlessness
  • irritability
  • hyperactivity
  • vaginal itching or discharge
  • unusual or unpleasant taste in the mouth
  • white patches or sores in the mouth, and
  • diaper rash (in infants taking liquid cefuroxime).

Tell your doctor if you experience serious side effects of Ceftin including watery or bloody diarrhea, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, chest pain, fast or pounding heartbeats, unusual bleeding, blood in your urine or dark colored urine, seizure (convulsions), confusion, weakness, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), severe blistering/peeling/red skin rash, bruising, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness, increased thirst, loss of appetite, swelling, weight gain, shortness of breath, painful or difficult urination, or urinating less than usual or not at all.

What is Ceftin?

Ceftin (cefuroxime) is a cephalosporin antibiotic. Ceftin is available as a generic drug and is prescribed to treat infections with susceptible bacteria including skin and middle ear infections, tonsillitis, throat infections, laryngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and gonorrhea.

 

What Drugs Interact With Omnicef?

Omnicef may interact with blood thinners, antibiotics, antidepressants, anti-malaria medications, medicine to prevent or treat nausea and vomiting, medicines to treat psychiatric disorders, migraine headache medicines, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), steroids, or narcotics.

What Drugs Interact With Ceftin?

Drug interactions with Ceftin include vaccines (for example, typhoid vaccine) and probenecid.

 

How Should Omnicef Be Taken?

The recommended dose of Omnicef is 150 mg every 13 weeks administered by deep intramuscular (IM) injection in the gluteal or deltoid muscle. Omnicef should not be used as a long-term birth control method (longer than 2 years).

How Should CeftinBe Taken?

Ceftin oral dose range in adults is from 125mg to 500mg twice daily for 7-10 days and dosage in children is usually weight based.
