Are Wixela Inhub and Atrovent HFA the Same Thing?
Wixela Inhub (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol inhalation powder) and Atrovent HFA (ipratropium bromide HFA) are used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis, and emphysema.
Wixela Inhub is also used for twice-daily treatment of asthma in patients aged 4 years and older.
Wixela Inhub and Atrovent HFA belong to different drug classes. Wixela Inhub contains a combination of a corticosteroid and a long-acting beta-adrenergic agonist (LABA) and Atrovent HFA is an anticholinergic bronchodilator.
Side effects of Wixela Inhub and Atrovent HFA that are similar include hoarseness, cough, headaches, and nausea.
Side effects of Wixela Inhub that are different from Atrovent HFA include upper respiratory tract infection or inflammation, sore throat, oral thrush, bronchitis, vomiting, pneumonia, and musculoskeletal pain.
Side effects of Atrovent HFA that are different from Wixela Inhub include dry mouth, stuffy nose, sinus pain, upset stomach, constipation, back pain, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, blurred vision, and dizziness.
Wixela Inhub may interact with other medicines containing a LABA, antivirals, azole antifungals, clarithromycin, telithromycin, nefazodone, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), tricyclic antidepressants, beta-blockers, and diuretics.
Atrovent HFA may interact with medicines to treat depression, anxiety, mood disorders, or mental illness; cold or allergy medicines; medicines to treat Parkinson's disease; medicines to treat stomach problems, motion sickness, or irritable bowel syndrome; medicines to treat overactive bladder; and other bronchodilators.

Tell your doctor if you experience serious side effects of Atrovent HFA HFA including bronchospasm (wheezing, chest tightness, trouble breathing), eye pain, seeing halos around lights, pain or burning when you urinate, urinating less than usual or not at all, or worsening of your symptoms.
What Is Wixela Inhub?
Wixela Inhub (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol inhalation powder) contains a combination of a corticosteroid and a long-acting beta-adrenergic agonist (LABA) indicated for twice-daily treatment of asthma in patients aged 4 years and older or maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction and reducing exacerbations in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Wixela Inhub is available in generic form.
What Is Atrovent HFA?
Atrovent HFA HFA is an anticholinergic indicated for the maintenance treatment of bronchospasm associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
What Drugs Interact With Wixela Inhub?
Wixela Inhub may interact with additional medicines containing a LABA, ritonavir, ketoconazole, atazanavir, clarithromycin, indinavir, itraconazole, nefazodone, nelfinavir, saquinavir, telithromycin, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), tricyclic antidepressants, beta-blockers, and diuretics. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant before using Wixela Inhub; it is unknown how it would affect a fetus. It is unknown if Wixela Inhub passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

How Should Wixela Inhub Be Taken?
The dose of Wixela Inhub for treatment of asthma in patients aged 12 years and older is 1 inhalation of Wixela Inhub 100/50, Wixela Inhub 250/50, or Wixela Inhub 500/50 twice daily. The dose of Wixela Inhub for treatment of asthma in patients aged 4 to 11 years is 1 inhalation of Wixela Inhub 100/50 twice daily. The dose of Wixela Inhub for maintenance treatment of COPD is 1 inhalation of Wixela Inhub 250/50 twice daily.
How Should Atrovent HFA Be Taken?
Two inhalations four times a day, not to exceed 12 inhalations in 24 hours.
