Definition of Lymphoproliferative
Lymphoproliferative: Referring to the proliferation of the bone marrow cells that give rise to lymphoid cells (such as lymphocytes and plasma cells) and reticuloendothelial cells (such as macrophages, which engulf foreign particles). The term lymphoproliferative is in contrast to myeloproliferative which refers to proliferation of bone marrow elements from which come red cells, granulocytes, and platelets. Both terms -- lymphoproliferative and myeloproliferative -- can apply to conditions that are entirely benign, premalignant, or frankly malignant.
