What Is Arimidex?
Arimidex (anastrozole) is a non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor used to treat breast cancer in postmenopausal women. Arimidex is often given to women whose cancer has progressed even after taking tamoxifen (Nolvadex, Soltamox). Arimidex is available in generic form.
What Are Side Effects of Arimidex?
Common side effects of Arimidex include:
- constipation,
- diarrhea,
- nausea,
- Rash including cases of mucocutaneous disorders such as erythema multiforme and Stevens-Johnson syndrome
- Cases of allergic reactions including angioedema, urticaria and anaphylaxis [see CONTRAINDICATIONS]
- Myalgia, trigger finger and hypercalcemia (with or without an increase in parathyroid hormone)
