What Is Albuked?

Albuked (albumin - human solution) is an albumin solution used for emergency treatment of hypovolemic shock, burn therapy, cardiopulmonary bypass, acute liver failure, and for sequestration of protein rich fluids (that occurs in such conditions as acute peritonitis, pancreatitis, mediastinitis, and extensive cellulitis).

Side effects of Albuked are rare and may include:

  • allergic reactions such as hives, chills, fever, and changes in respiration, pulse and blood pressure

Dosage for Albuked

The concentration of Albuked used, its dosage, and infusion rate should be adjusted to the patient's individual requirements and clinical indication.

Safety and effectiveness of Albuked in the pediatric population have not been established.

What Drugs, Substances, or Supplements Interact with Albuked?

Albuked should not be mixed with protein hydrolysates, amino acid solutions nor those containing alcohol.

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; cough, difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Tell your caregiver right away if you have:

  • a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;
  • weak or shallow breathing;
  • throbbing headache, blurred vision, buzzing in your ears;
  • anxiety, confusion, sweating, pale skin; or
  • severe shortness of breath, wheezing, gasping for breath, cough with foamy mucus, chest pain, and fast or uneven heart rate.

Common side effects may include:

  • nausea, vomiting;
  • fever, chills;
  • fast heart rate;
  • mild rash; or
  • flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly feeling).
