Yellow Fever
Yellow fever is an infectious disease. A vaccine is available for those traveling to affected areas.
Many cases of yellow fever are limited to a mild illness. Other cases are more serious. Signs and symptoms of yellow fever include headache, fever, chills, and muscle aches and pain. Some of those infected progress to develop life-threatening complications. Other associated symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, weakness, fatigue, loss of appetite, and back pain. Complications of the disease can lead to bleeding, confusion, seizures, and coma.
Cause of yellow fever
The yellow fever virus causes yellow fever. The virus is found in areas of Africa and South America and spreads to humans by the bite of an infected mosquito. The virus that causes the disease is an RNA virus of the Flavivirus genus.
