Clinoril (sulindac) and Celebrex (celecoxib) are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used to treat pain or inflammation caused by arthritis,

Clinoril is also used to treat pain or inflammation caused by ankylosing spondylitis, tendinitis, bursitis, or gout.

Celebrex is also used to treat familial FAP, acute pain, and menstrual cramps.

Side effects of Clinoril and Celebrex that are similar include upset stomach, stomach/abdominal pain, heartburn/indigestion, nausea, gas, bloating, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, skin rash, or runny nose.

Side effects of Clinoril that are different from Celebrex include vomiting, constipation, fatigue, itching, dry mouth, increased sweating, blurred vision, or ringing in your ears.

Side effects of Celebrex that are different from Clinoril include stuffy nose, sore throat, and insomnia.

Both Clinoril and Celebrex may interact with alcohol, aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), other cold/allergy/pain medicine that contains NSAIDs, diuretics (water pills), lithium, blood thinners, ACE inhibitors, antidepressants, or heart or blood pressure medications.

Clinoril may also interact with cyclosporine, methotrexate, steroids, or oral diabetes medications.

Celebrex may also interact with fluconazole.

Common side effects of Clinoril include:

Tell your doctor if you have unlikely but serious side effects of Clinoril including:

• swelling of the hands or feet (edema),
• sudden or unexplained weight gain,
• mental/mood changes,
• difficult or painful swallowing, or
• unusual tiredness.

Common side effects of Celebrex include:

• headache,
• abdominal pain,
• indigestion,
• diarrhea,
• nausea,
• upset stomach,
• bloating,
• gas,
• dizziness,
• nervousness,
• headache,
• runny or stuffy nose,
• sore throat,
• skin rash, and
• insomnia.

Celebrex may cause serious stomach and intestinal ulcers.

Clinoril (Sulindac) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat pain or inflammation caused by arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, tendinitis, bursitis, or gout. Clinoril is available in generic form.

Celebrex used to treat pain and redness, swelling, and heat (inflammation) from medical conditions such as different types of arthritis, menstrual cramps, and other types of short-term pain.

Clinoril may interact with cyclosporine, diuretics (water pills), lithium, methotrexate, blood thinners, steroids, heart or blood pressure medications, oral diabetes medications, ACE inhibitors, celebrex or other NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). Tell your doctor all medications you are taking. Clinoril should be used only when prescribed during the first 6 months of pregnancy. It is not recommended for use during the last 3 months of pregnancy due to possible harm to a fetus and interference with normal labor/delivery. It is unknown if this drug passes into breast milk. Breastfeeding while using this medication is not recommended.

Do not take Celebrex:

• if you have had an asthma attack, hives, or other allergic reaction with aspirin or any other NSAIDs.
• right before or after heart bypass surgery.

Clinoril is administered under a physician's supervision. The dose of Clinoril varies depending on the disorder being treated and the number of infusions (doses) needed.
