Nurtec ODT vs. Reyvow

Nurtec ODT (rimegepant) and Reyvow (lasmiditan) are used for acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults.

Nurtec ODT and Reyvow belong to different drug classes. Nurtec ODT is a calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor antagonist and Reyvow is a serotonin (5-HT) 1F receptor agonist.

Side effects of Nurtec ODT and Reyvow that are similar include nausea.

Side effects of Nurtec ODT that are different from Reyvow include hypersensitivity reactions (including shortness of breath and severe rash).

Side effects of Reyvow that are different from Nurtec ODT include dizziness, fatigue, numbness and tingling, sedation, and vomiting.

Both Nurtec ODT and Reyvow may interact with P-gp or BCRP substrates.

Nurtec ODT may also interact with strong and moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors and strong and moderate CYP3A inducers.

Reyvow may also interact with alcohol or other CNS depressants, antidepressants, MAO inhibitors, trazodone, dextromethorphan, St. John's wort, and medications that lower heart rate.

Common side effects of Nurtec ODT include:

• nausea and
• hypersensitivity (including shortness of breath and severe rash)

• dizziness,
• fatigue,
• numbness and tingling,
• sedation,
• nausea, and
• vomiting

Reyvow (lasmiditan) is a serotonin (5-HT) 1F receptor agonist indicated for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults. Reyvow is not indicated for the preventive treatment of migraine.

Nurtec ODT may interact with other medicines such as:

• strong CYP3A4 inhibitors,
• moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors,
• strong and moderate CYP3A inducers, and
• inhibitors of P-gp or BCRP.

Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use.

Reyvow may interact with:

• alcohol or other CNS depressants,
• antidepressants,
• MAO inhibitors,
• trazodone,
• dextromethorphan,
• St. John’s wort,
• medications that lower heart rate, and
• P-gp or BCRP substrates

The recommended dose of Nurtec ODT is 75 mg taken orally, as needed.

The recommended dose of Reyvow is 50 mg, 100 mg, or 200 mg taken orally, as needed. No more than one dose of Reyvow should be taken in 24 hours.
