Are Myrbetriq and Enablex the Same Thing?

Myrbetriq (mirabegron) and Enablex (darifenacin) are used to treat overactive bladder (OAB) with symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and urinary frequency.

Myrbetriq and Enablex belong to different drug classes. Myrbetriq is a beta-3 adrenergic agonist and Enablex is an antispasmodic.

Side effects of Myrbetriq and Enablex that are similar include dry mouth, sore throat, diarrhea, constipation, headache, dizziness, blurred vision, stomach pain or upset, or nausea.

Side effects of Myrbetriq that are different from Enablex include increased blood pressure, inability to fully empty the bladder (urinary retention), sinus pain, bloating, memory issues, joint pain, or tired feeling.

Side effects of Enablex that are different from Myrbetriq include dry eyes, weakness, drowsiness, or fever, body aches, or other flu symptoms.

Myrbetriq may interact with metoprolol, desipramine, or digoxin.

Enablex may interact with other bladder or urinary medications, glycopyrrolate, flecainide, mepenzolate, thioridazine, HIV /AIDS medicines, antibiotics, antifungal medications, atropine, dimenhydrinate, methscopolamine, scopolamine, bronchodilators, irritable bowel medications, or antidepressants.

What Is Myrbetriq?

What Is Enablex?

Enablex (darifenacin) is a urinary antispasmodic used to treat symptoms of overactive bladder, such as frequent or urgent urination, and incontinence (urine leakage).

 

What Drugs Interact With Myrbetriq?

Myrbetriq may interact with metoprolol, desipramine, or digoxin.

What Drugs Interact With Enablex?

Other bladder or urinary medications, glycopyrrolate, flecainide, mepenzolate, thioridazine, HIV /AIDS medicines, antibiotics, antifungal medications, atropine, benztropine, dimenhydrinate, methscopolamine, scopolamine, bronchodilators, irritable bowel medications, or antidepressants. Tell your doctor all medications you are taking. Enablex should be used only when prescribed during pregnancy. It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

 

How Should Myrbetriq Be Taken?

Myrbetriq is available as a 10 mg tablet and a solution (30 mg per ml) for intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) administration. Myrbetriq solution is administered as a single 15- to 60-mg dose once every 6 hours not to exceed 60 or 120 mg a day. The recommended oral dose is one to two Myrbetriq tablets initially followed by one tablet every 4-6 hours, not to exceed 40 mg daily. Myrbetriq should not be used for more than 5 days.

How Should Enablex Be Taken?

The recommended starting dose of Enablex is 7.5 mg once daily. Based upon individual response, the dose may be increased to 15 mg once daily.
