Are Harvoni and Zepatier the Same Thing?

Harvoni (ledipasvir and sofosbuvir) and Zepatier (elbasvir and grazoprevir) are combinations of antiviral agents used to treat chronic hepatitis C (CHC) genotype 1 infection in adults.

Zepatier is also used to treat chronic HCV genotype 4 infection in adults.

Side effects of Harvoni and Zepatier that are similar include fatigue, headache, nausea, and diarrhea.

Side effects of Harvoni that are different from Zepatier include insomnia and weakness.

Side effects of Zepatier that are different from Harvoni include abdominal pain, shortness of breath, rash or itching, irritability, joint pain, depression, and anemia.

Harvoni may interact with rifampin and St. John's wort.

Zepatier may interact with nafcillin, ketoconazole, bosentan, tacrolimus, HIV/AIDS medications, statin drugs, and modafinil.

Zepatier (elbasvir and grazoprevir) is a fixed-dose combination product containing a hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS5A inhibitor and an HCV NS3/4A protease inhibitor indicated with or without ribavirin for treatment of chronic HCV genotypes 1 or 4 infection in adults.

 

What Drugs Interact With Harvoni?

Harvoni may interact with rifampin, and St. John's wort. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plant to become pregnant before using Harvoni. It is unknown if this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

How Should Harvoni Be Taken?

Harvoni is a two-drug fixed-dose combination product that contains 90 mg of ledipasvir and 400 mg of sofosbuvir in a single tablet. The recommended dosage of Harvoni is one tablet taken orally once daily with or without food.

How Should Zepatier Be Taken?

The recommended dosage of Zepatier is one tablet taken orally once daily with or without food.
