Are Evenity and Actonel the Same Thing?
Evenity (romosozumab-aqqg) and Actonel (risedronate sodium) are used to treat osteoporosis in women.
Actonel is also used to treat or prevent osteoporosis in men, and is also used to treat Paget's disease of bone.
Evenity and Actonel belong to different drug classes. Evenity is a sclerostin inhibitor and Actonel is a bisphosphonate.
Side effects of Evenity and Actonel that are similar include joint pain, headache, and muscle spasms or pain.
Side effects of Evenity that are different from Actonel include swelling of extremities, weakness, neck pain, insomnia, and numbness and tingling sensation.
Side effects of Actonel that are different from Evenity include upset stomach, stomach pain, flu symptoms, diarrhea, constipation, and back pain.
Evenity may interact with other drugs.
Actonel may interact with aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), antacids, supplements, or medicines that contain aluminum, calcium, magnesium.

What Is Evenity?
Evenity (romosozumab-aqqg) is a sclerostin inhibitor indicated for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at high risk for fracture, defined as a history of osteoporotic fracture, or multiple risk factors for fracture; or patients who have failed or are intolerant to other available osteoporosis therapy.
What Is Actonel?
Actonel (risedronate sodium) is a bisphosphonate used to treat or prevent osteoporosis in men and women, and is also used to treat Paget's disease of bone.

Evenity may interact with other drugs. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. Evenity is not recommended for use in women of reproductive potential so it is not intended for use by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
What Drugs Interact With Actonel?
Actonel may interact with antacids, supplements, or medicines that contain aluminum, calcium, magnesium. Other minerals can interfere with how your body absorbs this drug. It may also interact with aspirin or other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. Caution is advised if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant in the future. This medication may stay in your body for many years. Its effects on a fetus are not known. Consult your doctor. It is not known if this medication passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
How Should Evenity Be Taken?
A healthcare provider can administer 210 mg Evenity subcutaneously once every month for 12 doses in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Two separate subcutaneous injections are needed to administer the total dose of 210 mg Evenity.

Dosage of Actonel depends on the condition being treated.
