Aspirin and Xarelto (rivaroxaban) are used to prevent blood clots.

Aspirin is also used to treat fever, pain, and inflammation in the body.

Xarelto is usually used to prevent of deep vein thrombosis, which may lead to pulmonary embolism in patients undergoing knee or hip replacement surgery.

Brand names for aspirin include Bayer Aspirin, Ecotrin, and Bufferin.

Common side effects of Aspirin include:

• rash,
• gastrointestinal ulcerations,
• abdominal pain,
• upset stomach,
• heartburn,
• drowsiness,
• headache,
• cramping,
• nausea,
• gastritis, and
• bleeding

Common side effects of Xarelto include:

• bleeding complications, including major bleeding events.

Other side effects of Xarelto include:

• fainting,
• itching,
• pain in your arms or legs,
• muscle pain, and
• muscle spasms.

Xarelto side effects that are severe are spinal hematomas that may develop after spinal surgery with this drug.

Aspirin (aspirin) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) prescribed for treating fever, pain, inflammation in the body, prevention of blood clots, and reduction of the risk of strokes and heart attacks.

Xarelto (rivaroxaban) is a Factor Xa inhibitor indicated for the prevention of deep vein thrombosis which may lead to pulmonary embolism in patients undergoing knee or hip replacement surgery.

Aspirin may interact with other blood thinners, aspirin, or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Xarelto may also interact with dexamethasone, barbiturates, seizure medications, and medicines to treat narcolepsy.

Aspirin dose ranges from 50 mg to 6000 mg daily.

Take Xarelto exactly as your healthcare provider tells you to take it.

Your healthcare provider will tell you how much Xarelto to take and when to take it.

Your healthcare provider may change your dose if needed.

Take Xarelto about 1 hour before sexual activity. You may take Xarelto between 30 minutes to 4 hours before sexual activity if needed.

Xarelto can be taken with or without food. If you take Xarelto after a high fat meal (such as a cheeseburger and french fries), Xarelto may take a little longer to start working

Do not take Xarelto more than 1 time a day.

If you accidentally take too much Xarelto, call your doctor or go to the nearest hospital emergency room right away.
