Tell your doctor if you have serious side effects of Adipex-P including:
- shortness of breath, even with mild exertion;
- chest pain, feeling like you might pass out;
- swelling in your ankles or feet;
- pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest;
- confusion or irritability, unusual thoughts or behavior;
- feelings of extreme happiness or sadness; or
- dangerously high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision, buzzing in your ears, anxiety, chest pain, shortness of breath, uneven heartbeats, seizure).
What is Bontril?
Bontril (phendimetrazine tartrate) is an appetite suppressant, used along with a doctor-approved, reduced-calorie diet, exercise, and a behavior change program to help patients lose weight. Bontrilis used in people who are significantly overweight (obese) and have not been able to lose enough weight with diet and exercise alone.

Adipex/Adipex-P (phentermine) is an appetite suppressant used in combination with diet and exercise for the short-term treatment of obesity.
What Drugs Interact With Bontril?
Bontril may interact with insulin or oral diabetes medications or blood pressure medications. Bontril may also interact with other diet pills.
What Drugs Interact With Adipex?
Adipex may interact with insulin or oral diabetes medications or blood pressure medications. Adipex may also interact with alcohol, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), or antidepressants.
How Should Bontril Be Taken?
The recommended dosage of Bontril is 1 tablet (35 mg) 2-3 times daily, one hour before meals. Bontril may interact with other drugs. Tell your doctor all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially: drugs for depression, diabetes, high blood pressure, or other stimulants. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity that requires alertness or clear vision when taking Bontril PDM. Avoid alcoholic beverages. Caffeine can increase side effects of this medication.
Do not stop using Bontril suddenly after long-term use, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms consisting of excessive drowsiness, fatigue, tremors and depression.
How Should Adipex Be Taken?
The recommended dose of Adipex-P is 30 mg once daily.
