Cutis verticis gyrata: a condition characterized by thickened skin and folding and furrowing of the scalp. It can occur on its own or can occur associated with a large number of different medical conditions. Symptoms include plaques on the skin that eventually cause the skin to thicken and fold. Symptoms can appear in infancy or later in life. Usually, there are no other associated symptoms involving the scalp.
