Definition of Epithelioid sarcoma
Epithelioid Sarcoma: a rare soft tissue sarcoma most commonly diagnosed in young adults age 20-39 years that typically affects the upper extremities. About 60% of cases of epithelioid sarcoma involve the hands, fingers, and forearms, but other parts of the body such as the feet, vulva, pelvis, penis, and spine may also be affected. Epithelioid sarcoma has a high rate of recurrence and metastases (cancer). Treatment involves surgical removal of cancer cells and may require amputation in severe cases.
