Cervical laminectomy: a common type of spinal surgery used to remove part of the lamina (the section of bone that covers the spinal canal) in the neck (the cervical spine). Cervical laminectomy decompresses the spinal cord and nerves, and is performed in patients with cervical spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal), which can compress the spinal cord and surrounding nerves and cause pain, weakness, and numbness or tingling in one limb (radiculopathy).
