Definition of Meiotic drive

Meiotic drive: Preferential selection during meiosis (germ cell production). In meiotic drive there is preferential production of certain gametes. This alters the segregation of genes from the Mendelian expectations. Meiotic drive is a mechanism for transmission distortion.
