Definition of Botfly

Botfly (bot fly): A large, hairy fly (Dermatobia hominis that resembles a bumblebee. The human bot fly is native to Central and South America. While the bot fly does not carry any human diseases, its larvae can infest human skin, leading to painful fluid-filled blisters. This infestation with fly larvae is known as myiasis.
